Actress Octavia Spencer has big plans following her best supporting actress win on Oscar night, and they have nothing to do with the typical post-win boost some stars see.

No, as the "The Help" scene-stealer explained during a pre-win interview with TODAY's Al Roker, she's looking forward to a very different kind of boost.

"I love my body," Spencer explained. "I'm trying to get to an even more healthier weight, and I'm not trying to be a thin mint. I want to be a thick, chocolate mint. I also want to be sexy in my own eyes."

So to that end, Spencer plans to get a breast lift, or as she describes it, "I'm going to get my boobs stapled to my shoulders, so by the time I'm 70, they will drop to where they need to be."

And by the time next year's awards season kicks off "the Golden Globes will be golden."

Of course, cosmetic procedures to come weren't the only things on Spencer's mind. The actress also had plenty to say about a different subject close to her heart: Since playing the part of Minny Jackson in "The Help," she's become interested defending the real-life women who serve as domestic workers.

"Here's what I have to say to people who just sort of discount what domestics do, 'You're a dad, do you not cook for your kids? Do you not make them make their bed, brush their teeth, all of those things that domestics provide them with ? even unconditional love?' If we discount what these women did, even though it was for someone else's kids, in addition to their own, then we're really discounting our mothers, our fathers, our grandparents -- all the people that provide us with that type of love every single day," she said.

It's hard to argue with that logic.

At least four students were injured in a shooting Monday morning at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, according to Cleveland television station WKYC. Authorities say the alleged gunman is in custody. NBC's Chris Jansing reports.

Updated 10:45 a.m. ET:?At least five students were injured in a shooting Monday morning at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, sheriff spokesman John Hiscox said.?The alleged gunman is in custody, according to Hiscox.

Officials said the victims were found in three different places inside the school.?

The gunman was pushed out of the building by a teacher and caught later by police some distance away from the school, officials said.

Police said the gunman used a handgun.

"I'm just distraught," Victoria, a Chardon student, told Fox 8. She said the cafeteria wasn't crowded at the time of the shooting, adding that she knew the shooter, who is a junior.? Victoria said she saw him shoot another student in the back before she and a friend fled the area.

?He was not like a jock, a popular kid," student Evan Erasmus told Channel 5. ?He has friends, but he would be considered the outcast type."

Erasmus told Channel 5 that a student tweeted he was going to bring a gun to school but no one took him seriously. Other reports said it was a text.

Jonathan Sylak, a senior at the high school, said he never saw a text or tweet, but has heard about it.

?Chardon is fairly laid back; teachers are casual and will be your friend,? Sylak told MSNBC TV.

?It is a nice, safe community, and from what we have observed, very little crime... But you never know what is going on in other people?s minds,? he said.

"I am still in shock,? Sylak said.

?Asked about the connection of the alleged shooter and the victims, Sylak said, ?I don?t think it was random.?

?They were definitely targeted, I think,? he said.

He said he knows the shooter.

According to WKBN.com, police scanner traffic is reporting three victims are in critical condition. Medical helicopters converged on the Wal-Mart in Chardon, where a landing zone had been set up.

Three victims have been transported to MetroHealth Medical?Center and two to Hillcrest Hospital, according to the News-Herald.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported the shooting began in the cafeteria, according to a waiting parent, Jessica Bryant, whose daughter had seen it and sent her a text message.

Another?parent, Jeannette Roth, said her son told her the shooting happened while students were eating breakfast and waiting for first period.?She told the paper a student "stood up and started shooting, and then it was chaos." Nearly 1,100 students attend Chardon High School.

Students fled and locked themselves in classrooms for safety.

?These kids are knowledgeable about guns because they hunt,? Laurie Hovater, a reporter for WTAM Radio, told MSNBC TV.

Civil deputy Erin Knife, of the Geauga County Sheriff's Office, says the shooting was reported around 7:30 a.m.

Schools in the area are locked down.

The school system in Chardon has received an excellent rating from the Ohio Department of Education for 10 consecutive years and draws students from a number of surrounding communities.

Chardon is located about 30 miles east of Cleveland in Geauga County and is a city of about 5,100 residents.

COLUMBIA, Mo. Hispanics are enrolling in the higher education system at a greater rate than ever, yet they are less likely than their non-Hispanic peers to enter college or earn degrees, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. A new study by a University of Missouri researcher found that Mexican-American college students' family and peer attachments are associated with prosocial and physically aggressive behaviors that can affect their success in college.

Gustavo Carlo, Millsap Professor of Diversity in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, found that college students who maintained strong relationships with their parents and peers were more likely to report less physical aggression and higher levels of empathy, an emotion associated with more prosocial behaviors, such as assisting in emergencies or helping others without expecting a reward.

"The ability to develop secure, trusting, intimate relationships is a marker of positive development," Carlo said. "Close parent and peer attachments lead to positive outcomes such as successful social functioning, academic competence and contributions to society."

Latinos' positive development largely remains unstudied, but Carlo says understanding the importance of relationships in Mexican-American culture could help higher education administrators find ways to increase the number of Latino students who enroll in college and earn degrees. Carlo says educators and administrators should help young Latino adults adapt to college life by including parents in their children's continued development and exposing students to positive peer environments.

"The combination of students' attachment to their parents and their peers seems to best predict their developmental outcomes," Carlo said. "Even though the students aren't living with their parents, there's clearly still a connection there, especially for Mexican-American women. Since peers tend to have a significant influence on Latino men, we need to pay attention to the nature of their peer groups."

The study, "Empathy as a mediator of the relations between parent and peer attachment and prosocial and physically aggressive behaviors in Mexican-American college students," was published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships. Carlo collaborated with researchers Rachel Hayes and Miriam Martinez from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Meredith McGinley from Chatham University. The Department of Human Development and Family Studies is part of the College of Human Environmental Sciences.

One of my biggest worries about early retirement is health care. The cost of health care keeps increasing every year, and it is outpacing inflation by a wide margin. Sometimes I wonder if my investments can keep up with rising health care costs. This is a big problem for early retirees because we won?t qualify for Medicare until age 65. If you retire before then, medical insurance can be very expensive and difficult to find. Here are some options for those of us who dream of early retirement:

COBRA . If you leave a job with a group health insurance plan, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act allows you to continue using the same health care plan for a limited amount of time if you are willing to pay the whole cost. This means you will have to pay any amount your employer used to cover plus administrative expenses. The good thing about COBRA is that you benefit from the group rate and continued coverage. However, the cost can be a bit shocking to employees who formerly paid only a part of the cost. COBRA coverage generally lasts for up to 18 months, so if you are 63 and a half, this might be the way to go until you qualify for Medicare.

Retiree health insurance . Some companies offer retiree health insurance to long-tenured employees. To qualify, your age plus your years of service might need to pass a certain threshold, such as 70. If you are hoping to retire with such a plan, get all the information from your company retirement program. Some programs may subsidize a portion of your health insurance premium until Medicare kicks in.

Part-time job . A part-time job might provide the health insurance you need until you are old enough to qualify for Medicare. Costco, Starbucks, and Trader Joe?s are some of the companies that provide health care benefits to their part-time employees. However, there might be a qualifying period before part-timers can sign up for the health care plan, which could vary from a few months to a year or more.

Spouse?s insurance . If you have a working spouse whose employer offers a family health care plan, this is another way to fill in the health insurance gap. The premium is generally much less than buying insurance privately.

Private insurance . This is a very costly option because you do not receive any group discounts. The insurance provider can also decline your application if you have pre-existing conditions. Your state may have a group plan that you can join if you?ve been turned down by a private insurer. Your state may also subsidize a portion of the health care premium if your income is below a certain level. However, low income plans might have many requirements and a long wait time to join.

On demand health care . This might be a good option if you are young and relatively healthy. On demand health care clinics offer an affordable option for everyday health problems. For example, each visit at ZoomCare costs $99, which may be a good short-term solution if you don?t have a chronic illness. But this may not be a good option for older people because long-term illnesses may crop up.

Finding affordable health care is a huge problem for early retirees, and there is no easy way to avoid the high price. Perhaps we will have more options when the health insurance exchanges become operational. Until then, we just have to take care of our health as much as possible and minimize our health care costs through better living .

FINALLY, a contender for the elusive fountain of youth: an enzyme found in humans appears to lengthen the life of mice.

Researchers hoping to slow the march of age were dealt a blow in 2010, when signs that an enzyme called sirtuin 2 extended the life of worms were shown to be false due to flawed experimental design.

Mammals have seven types of sirtuin, so Haim Cohen and Yariv Kanfi at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel, turned to sirtuin 6 instead. They compared mice genetically engineered to have increased levels of SIRT6 with normal mice, engineering the mice in two different ways to control for genetic influences.

Male mice from both strains lived 15 per cent longer than normal mice or females. Older modified male mice metabolised sugar faster than normal mice and females, suggesting that SIRT6 might extend life by protecting against metabolic disorders such as diabetes.

Why SIRT6 didn't affect females is a puzzle, but may be related to differences in genes that regulate ageing in males and females (Nature, DOI: 10.1038/nature10815).

Other officials in Athens also voiced indignation over the blunt approach taken by Germany and other European nations.

"What is happening today with Greece is unprecedented," said Greek Citizens' Protection Minister Christos Papoutsis, who is a former European Commissioner. "The sacrifices of the Greek people are unbearable."

"Any other new demands from our partners make a mockery of our country," he said in a statement Thursday. "It is raw blackmail of the Greek government and of the political system in Greece. It is a direct insult of Parliament, the basic pillar of Greek democracy. It is a direct insult to the dignity and the pride of the Greek people. Some in Europe forget that behind the numerical targets there are people."

EVANSTON, Wyo. -- A 59-year-old fugitive is back behind bars after he ran out of gas in Wyoming and called the local sheriff's office for roadside assistance.
