Enabling HIPM and DIPM in Windows 7

Home ? Windows, Windows 7 ? Enabling HIPM and DIPM in Windows 7

AHCI Link Power Management can be used as a technique where AHCI controller puts the SATA link to the internal SSD disk or HDD for very low power and this confirms that there is not going to be any activity for certain time period. When there is something comes up for work, the controller puts the link back into active power state. The purpose of this function is save power consumption by HDD or SSD disk. These are the guidelines which will tell you how to enable or disable HIPM or DIPM from advanced power plan settings.

  • Add_AHCI_Link_Power_Management_Option.reg is the file which you will need to download for adding AHCI link power management. Download it and save on desktop, right click on downloaded file to merge it.
  • When it prompts, click on yes to run it. It will be added to your computer, now you can go to advanced power plan settings, and customize HIPM or DIPM settings from AHCI link power management.
  • Remove_AHCI_Link_Power_Management_Option.reg file is used to remove link power management from your system, save it on desktop, right click on it to merge. Run it for removing link power management from your system.
